Abstract

One of the most important criteria and influencers of healthy nutrition is emotional appetite. Emotional appetite is affected by many factors and can affect many others.

It can be said that mood and daily chain of events are important factors in determining the level of emotional appetite. Among the factors regulated by emotional appetite, one of the most important is body mass index (BMI) and is associated with increased consumption of simple sugars. Studies have shown that people who tend to eat emotionally tend to consume simple sugar depending on their negative emotional state and conditions, and as a result, their BMI increases.

This review focuses on factors related to emotional appetite. In the light of literature; The relationship between emotional appetite and general nutrition and health status is examined. According to the data obtained as a result of the review article; It seems that the effect of emotional appetite on nutrition in negative emotional states is an issue that dietitians should be careful about in their diet programs.
