Abstract

Propolis is a resinous organic product created by honey bees (Apis Mellifera L.) by collecting resinous substances and secretions from the leaf shoots, branches and trunks of poplar, beech, horse chestnut, bird and conifer trees and adding the honey, beeswax, pollen and pharyngeal enzymes they produce in their bodies. It is a product. Thanks to the organic compounds it contains, propolis has immune modulator, anticarcinogenic, antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. In addition, it is used in the prevention and treatment of skin problems, oral problems such as gingivitis and fungal infection, other infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, atherosclerosis and coronary heart diseases), diabetes and reproductive problems. Propolis can also have a positive effect on blood glucose levels, HbA1c values and systolic blood pressure, which can be caused by insulin resistance and chronic diseases, which are frequently seen in society. In addition, it has the ability to prevent dyslipidemia, oxidative stress and inflammation caused by type 2 diabetes. As a result, propolis can be used to support medical treatment.
